Seeking 2018 WSSDA Officers
Seeking 2018 WSSDA Officers: Nominations Accepted Through May 28
The process for officer nomination and elections allows every school director in Washington the opportunity to have a voice in shaping our association (WSSDA). We encourage you to talk with your fellow board members about who is ready for next-level leadership and who would represent you well at the state and national levels. More information about officer duties is available here.
There are two ways to submit your ideas for officers:
- Submit a nomination form for us to contact someone you know.
- Submit an application for yourself; no nomination required.
Positions up for election include:
- President-elect: This position is open to a member from any area of the state. The president-elect for 2018 automatically becomes WSSDA President in 2019, unless unseated.
- Vice president: This position alternates between directors from the east and west sides of the Cascades. This year it is open to a member from the west side.
Officer elections will take place from August 28 – September 29.
A message from last year's president
||Serving as an officer for WSSDA was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. Touring schools and meeting school directors from all areas of our state enhanced and broadened my knowledge of public education. I would highly recommend this opportunity to serve at this level to any individual that has a passion for public education and the benefits this brings to our students.

Other Opportunities for WSSDA Involvement
A number of board and committee member positions are up for election each year. Nominations and voting will occur during the director area caucus meetings at the WSSDA Annual Conference.
WSSDA board positions are for three-year terms. These board members serve as director area representatives, help interpret WSSDA Bylaws and vote on policies and budget. You can learn more about board member duties in the WSSDA Bylaws, Article VII, Section 4.
Members of elected committees serve two-year terms of office. The duties of each of the elected committees are explained in the WSSDA Bylaws on pages 8-10. WSSDA also hosts a variety of task forces and committees with appointed positions. Most of these are for 1-year terms. Please submit an Interest and Involvement Form so we know to contact you if a position opens.
