Advocacy and legislation
WSSDA is a trusted, respected advocate for public education and student achievement. Serving as a unified voice for local school leaders, we foster effective relationships with the Legislature, the governor’s office, the superintendent of public instruction, members of Congress, federal agencies and myriad educational organizations. WSSDA’s legislative reports and analyses are widely read and used throughout the education community.
Professional development and training
Continuing professional development is essential to the ability of school board members to successfully govern their districts and champion public education. WSSDA’s local, regional and statewide workshops and conferences provide board members opportunities to enhance their governance skills, expand their knowledge, exchange ideas and discuss key issues.
Policy and legal services
Policy is essential to school district success. It defines the board’s vision, the structure for accomplishing that vision, and the system of accountability for all involved in realizing that vision. WSSDA provides an array of services to help school boards keep their policy manuals up to date, and to address emerging policy issues and legal questions.
Information services
Education leaders rely on WSSDA for concise, timely information on education issues and association activities. We provide board members and the education community with a variety of information services, including newsletters, issue briefs and online offerings such as our popular “E-Clippings” daily headline service, podcasts and video updates.
Targeted resources
WSSDA offers a host of other services to help the leadership team operate effectively and efficiently. These include strategic planning, superintendent search, BoardDocs® paperless meetings, and our On Call school public relations service.
