What does a school board do? What are the responsibilities of school board service, and what does it take to be effective?

These questions, often asked by first-time school board candidates, are addressed in a series of resources offered by the Washington State School Directors’ Association.

During July, WSSDA will offer eight free workshops for school board candidates around the state. These two-hour workshops will cover the roles and responsibilities of school board service and related topics such open public meetings, conflict of interest, state and local education governance, and current education issues. (Note: These are not workshops on how to campaign.)
