Posted November 15, 2004

Quent Goodrich of the Chimacum School Board and Cindy McMullen of the Central Valley (Spokane) School Board have been elected to serve as officers of the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA), which represents all the state’s locally elected school board members. Goodrich and McMullen were chosen by members of the association during last week’s WSSDA annual conference in Spokane.

Goodrich, a member of the Chimacum School Board for 17 years, was elected to the position of president-elect for 2005 following a one-year term as the association’s vice president. He has been a member of the WSSDA Board of Directors for the past five years, is an 11-year member of the association’s Federal Relations Network, and chairs the WSSDA School Trust Lands Advisory Task Force. He will be installed as president of WSSDA at next year’s annual conference in Seattle.

Goodrich is a graduate of Augsburg College, Washington University in St. Louis, and Luther Seminary. He worked for 20 years as a therapist and social service agency administrator, and currently owns his own business. Goodrich also serves as President of the Board of Jefferson Mental Health Services, and is active in Rotary International, the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson County Education Foundation, and the Wooden Boat Foundation.

McMullen, a member of the Central Valley School Board for 17 years, will serve as WSSDA’s vice president for 2005. She has been a member of WSSDA’s Legislative Committee and Federal Relations Network, and, as a WSSDA training consultant, has presented at numerous conferences and workshops.

McMullen is a past chair of the Spokane County Civil Service Commission, a past member of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees, and a member of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Business/Education Committee.  She is active in Rotary International, serving as president of the Spokane Valley Sunrise Club, and the Inland Empire Council of the Girl Scouts of America, serving as vice president, service unit manager and troop leader.

Anita Boyum, a member of the Ellensburg School Board, was installed as WSSDA President for 2005. The outgoing president, Kent School Board member Sandy Collins, will serve as WSSDA Immediate Past President during the coming year.
