| Resolutions Committee
seeks proposed changes to association positions
Posted March 16, 2006
WSSDA's Resolutions
Committee has issued its annual request to school boards to submit
proposals for changes to Permanent Association Positions. These
positions describe the association's collective stance on issues of
widespread concern. (They do not address legislative issues, which are
developed through a separate process.*)
Boards may recommend that
the association take a position on a new issue or that it change or
delete an existing position. Proposals are reviewed by the
Resolutions Committee, which is required to recommend either a "do
pass" or "do not pass" on each submittal. Proposals are then
forwarded to the WSSDA Delegate Assembly for consideration at its
annual meeting in November.
Proposals must be
submitted to the Resolutions Committee no later than Friday, June
30, 2006. Proposal forms were mailed to all school board members
in mid-March, and are also
available online (PDF file). Before submitting a proposal,
boards should review the association's existing
Permanent Positions (PDF file).
If you have any questions
about this process, please contact WSSDA's Marilee Scarbrough
(360/252-3017).
*Proposals specifically
asking for action by the state Legislature should be submitted to the
WSSDA Legislative Committee for consideration at the WSSDA Legislative
Assembly. Click here for more
information.
