Applicants sought for WSSDA VP appointment
The recent resignation of Ricardo Espinoza from the Pasco School Board has created a vacancy in the office of WSSDA Vice President, a vacancy that will be filled by appointment at the end of March. Under the association’s bylaws, the WSSDA Board of Directors is tasked with filling the vacancy.
In this instance, the appointee must be a school board member from east of the Cascades. If you’re interested in being considered, visit the
WSSDA Web site for information on the application process and submittal forms. Application materials must be postmarked no later than March 9.
WIAA amendments proposed
Should members of the WSSDA Interscholastic Activities Committee be eligible to serve as voting members of the WIAA executive board? Should school boards be required to approve stipends paid to coaches and advisors by booster clubs and other outside groups? These are just two of the 20-plus
proposals that will be considered by WIAA’s Representative Assembly later this spring. School boards are encouraged to
review the proposals and provide feedback to their
WSSDA IAC representatives as soon as possible. The IAC will meet Feb. 10 to establish its recommendations on the proposed amendments.

Help build the ‘Healthy Schools’ Web site
Your input is needed as a team from the UW Center for Public Health Nutrition works to develop a new "Healthy Schools, Successful Students" Web site. The new site will address student health issues such as nutrition, physical activity, prevention of tobacco and drug use, violence prevention, and sexual and mental health. To comment on the site and make suggestions about what information would be most useful, log on to the Center’s
