| WSSDA RSS Feeds
What is RSS?
RSS, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication, is a popular
means of sharing online content (such as news headlines) without requiring
users to constantly visit a Web site to see what's new. RSS feeds
contain headlines and hyperlinks to longer articles or Web pages.
How can I receive RSS feeds?
Desktop software applications known as news readers or aggregators
can collect, update and display RSS feeds from a wide variety of
sources. News readers are incorporated in more recent versions of
Web browsers such as Internet Explorer 7, Firefox and Safari.
Web-based readers include Google Reader, Bloglines and NewsGator. Stand-alone
reader programs such as FeedDemon and NetNewsWire are also available for
purchase and download.
No matter which reader you use, it's
easy to access RSS feeds. Feeds are usually marked with a small
orange icon labeled "RSS" or "XML." Some readers will
"auto-discover" feeds on sites you visit. Simply click on the feed link and confirm that you want to subscribe
to the feed (or cut-and-paste the feed link into your reader).
