Designed with feedback from school directors, Leadership Academy bundles professional learning opportunities into a predictable, annual schedule. With in-person and virtual offerings, this approach enables school boards and districts to effectively plan and budget their time for high-quality training experiences
Statewide and Recurring
Our year-long approach is structured to offer trainings in at least three regions across the state each year. Add in our on-demand options, and the annual training schedule provides the chance for cross-district collaboration and networking.
Annual Training Schedule
- Winter Leadership Academy
The winter Leadership Academy will always be held virtually approximately in February - Summer Leadership Academy (Coming 2026)
The summer Leadership Academy will be held in-person alternating between the east and western sides of the state opposite to Annual Conference. We plan to provide two concurrent offerings on Friday afternoons and two concurrent offerings on Saturday mornings approximately in June. - Fall Annual Conference
The biggest event of the year for board-superintendent teams, conference draws over 1000 attendees for approximately 70 breakout sessions and two keynotes. Learn more… - Spring Regional Trainings (Beginning 2027)
Spring regional trainings will be held the day following a WSSDA Regional Meeting. - On-Demand
Boards can request to host a training for area districts or have a customized version just for themselves.

Each school board might envision something different as successful outcomes for students. But for all boards, the fundamentals of effective governance, visionary leadership, and strategic advocacy are the same.
