Building Skilled Leaders and Effective Boards

OnBoard is an interactive learning experience designed for both individual school directors and board-superintendent teams. Designed to be a comprehensive learning system, OnBoard’s aim is to help school directors provide visionary leadership, perform effective governance, and strategic advocacy.

Training Topics

Educational Equity

As a result of the passage of SB 5044 in the 2021 legislative session, school directors are required by law to receive training on the topics of equity, inclusion, and cultural proficiency as they relate to education. WSSDA is required by that same law to develop and provide such training.

Our educational equity learning experiences will give school directors new or deepened perspectives. Directors will gain the background knowledge necessary to support the delivery of programs and services that benefit every corner of their school districts.

School Finances and Budgeting

Build your expertise with this training series on public education funding and budgeting in Washington state. The first three learning experiences are foundational while the fourth and fifth (Tackling Financial Soundness and Vision-Aligned Budgeting) expand upon the others. Each training session takes about three hours.
