Open Government Training for School Directors

Every school director must complete training on the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), Public Records Act (PRA) and records retention within 90 days of taking the oath of office following appointment or election.

There are two ways to complete the legal requirement for this training:

Online Option

The Washington Attorney General’s Office has training available online that can be accessed here:

In-person Option

The Washington State Attorney General’s office provides a qualifying training session during WSSDA’s annual conference each November. A certificate of completion will be provided to those who complete the full 90-minute training.

At the 2023 Annual Conference

Advance registration is not required for Open Government Training for school directors at the WSSDA Annual Conference. Instead, sign-in is required onsite beginning at 2:00 p.m. on November 16. The location will be posted in the Annual Conference app.
