Welcome!
Congratulations on receiving the trust and confidence of your community. By electing you, the community has given you access to the Washington State School Directors’ Association, a network of 1,477 locally elected school board members statewide! This network contains newcomers and veterans across a spectrum of school board and life experiences. WSSDA is people, and that includes you.
A Team Effort
The role of a school board member, or “school director” as we say in Washington, can be larger than any single person. That’s why a board has different roles within itself and why it can take years for a person to progress from being new to becoming a veteran of K-12 educational leadership. But whether you’re on day one or going on year 25, WSSDA has something for everyone seeking student success through effective school board leadership.
People, Events, Tools, and More
Every school director is eligible to take advantage of the research-based leadership development opportunities, policy and legal resources, and legislative advocacy support provided by WSSDA. Please see our menu of services and supports.
The more you engage with WSSDA, the more access and exposure you’ll get to people, events, tools, and resources that will help you be a successful leader. For some board members, WSSDA is a year-round companion because its internal processes and learning opportunities are cyclical. For others, they turn to WSSDA only when they feel the need. Either way, the staff and your elected peers are here for you.
