The WSSDA Annual Conference is right around the corner, and we’re thrilled to bring attendees some outstanding student performers from around Spokane. Each year, the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) selects three distinct student groups to showcase the diverse talent of our state’s youth.
This year’s lineup includes Musha Marimba, a high school ensemble directed by Heather Ward that will play Zimbabwean-style marimbas. Their music is polyrhythmic, polyphonic, and will surely captivate the audience.
We’ll also hear the Sacajawea Middle School Choir, directed by Christine Thomas, who brings forward moving and engaging music derived from diverse cultures and languages.
Finally, the Odyssey String Ensemble will showcase their incredible skills, a testament to their hard work and the support they’ve received from the community. This group of 8th graders has been playing together since 5th grade under the guidance of their dedicated teacher, Jerilynn Harris.
Needless to say, you won’t want to miss the student performers at this year’s conference — so register for the conference and join us in celebrating their talent!
