WSSDA’s Direct newsmagazine received a 2026 Award of Excellence from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
The NSPRA Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding communications work from school districts and education organizations nationwide, with several awardees from Washington state.
Within the magazine category, Direct earned the highest of three award levels, the Award of Excellence.
Direct is published three to four times a year and spotlights success stories from school districts across Washington. With school board members as its primary audience, the magazine offers practical insights into key practices and lessons learned by effective school boards. It is mailed to 2,450 readers, including school board members, superintendents, legislators, and educational partners.
This recognition reflects WSSDA’s ongoing commitment to producing communications that support school board members and inform the statewide community. With every issue, we aim to offer content that matters to school directors and inspires them in serving their communities.
Washington school districts also earned recognition across several NSPRA award categories this year, reflecting the quality and dedication of communication work happening throughout the state.
“We’re grateful to everyone who reads, contributes to, and supports Direct,” said WSSDA Communications Officer Sean Duke. “This recognition is an honor for our team and serves as a reminder that the work happening in our school districts deserves celebrating.”
