Yesterday afternoon, WSSDA Executive Director Tim Garchow emailed WSSDA members announcing the preliminary slate of candidates for president-elect and vice president of the WSSDA Board of Directors. Online voting will begin August 27 and run through September 28.
The slate presented yesterday includes two school directors who participated in the nominations process. This process is overseen by the WSSDA Nominating Committee in order to foster development of a strong ballot for members to choose from when electing WSSDA board officers. The committee fulfills its charge by meeting periodically throughout the year to ensure the integrity of the elections process and identify the desired characteristics for board officer candidates. The committee then uses those characteristics as it evaluates potential candidates through an in-person interview. Upon completion of the interviews, successful nominees are advanced to the ballot by the committee.
From the date of announcing the preliminary slate of candidates, WSSDA members have a two-week window to advance themselves as additional candidates. These additional candidates are described as “at-large.” For more information about the board officer election process and at-large candidates, please visit wssda.org/officerelections.
