Each year, school directors are invited to submit proposals to amend WSSDA’s existing permanent and legislative positions or to create new ones. The 2019 window for submitting these proposals opens today and closes May 10 at 5 p.m.
In the past, WSSDA’s Resolutions Committee, which is the steward of WSSDA’s permanent positions, has guided the updating of permanent positions through a process and timeline that was separate from what the Legislative Committee facilitated for legislative positions. This year, the two committees have aligned their processes to make it simpler for school directors to participate in the development of WSSDA’s positions.
To assist with the alignment, WSSDA has created two new webpages. The first page, wssda.org/positions, describes what kind of positions WSSDA has. The second page explains how school board members can propose amendments and new positions.
“We hope this alignment makes it easier for more school boards to engage with WSSDA and have their voices heard,” said Jessica Vavrus, deputy executive director and director of government relations for WSSDA. “Both committees have put a great deal of thought and energy into WSSDA’s positions, so we’re excited to help approach them holistically.”
