UPDATED: Talking about Equity with a Divided Community—a WSSDA-WASA Webinar

Equity-in-a-divided-community

School directors are invited to join WASA members on June 23 and June 28 for a timely, free webinar that will explore how to communicate effectively about equity with a divided community.

Community conversations can be difficult to navigate when there is division, especially on topics that elicit emotional reactions. Many districts are facing questions about how educational equity initiatives are being implemented. Our webinar is interned to help with addressing those questions.

Event Times

  • June 23, 12-1 p.m.
  • June 23, 5-6 p.m.
  • June 28, 5-6 p.m.

In this webinar:

  • WSSDA will share information about the implementation of SB 5044, which includes training being developed by WSSDA for school directors around their role in educational equity.
  • You will get a set of practical resources and talking points that can be immediately used in school district communities for questions regarding critical race theory.
  • You will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input that will inform WSSDA and WASA efforts to meet your needs and support your work around these topics.

OPMA Note: To ensure compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, please ensure that no more than two board members (three for Seattle Public Schools) is present during the same webinar. The webinars will not be recorded, but may be repeated if demand warrants.
